Teacher Appreciation Doors

Whew!! So, lucky me got roped into not 1....not 2....not 3...but FOUR teacher appreciation doors!! We have 18 "extra" doors and we TRIED and TRIED to get volunteers to help and we did get a few but we still ended up with 9 doors between me and the PTA President...so discouraging that out of 800 students we can't get 9 moms to help with one activity...sigh....BIG SIGH.

Anyway, we split the rooms up and here's what I did..remember I had FOUR doors to do so they are nothing spectacular. (OH...and I should mention that we are currently short 2 doors..so I may be doing 2 more this weekend..sigh..BIG SIGH...BIG BIG SIGH!)

This is a door that I did for the ART teacher. It is a poster size "box" of crayons..

This is for the school psychologist..I don't even know his name.haha.

This is the door for the principal..got the idea from another website..and got the idea for the popcorn from a card found HERE...the popcorn is "puffy"..see next picture
So...you can't really tell in the picture but I made puffy paint by mixing shaving cream and Elmer's glue. I dabbed it onto the paper using a sponge brush and let it dry. Then I inked the edges with yellow and brown paint and lightly painted some of the puffy paint. If you click on the picture and enlarge it..you can see it better.

And finally...here is the door that I did for the lunch ladies...oh..but it is not on the door. We started encouraging the use of the walls next to the doors because some room moms have gone so overboard on the door that it won't open or close properly. HAHA! And some doors have been damaged so I put this one on the wall..It's the thought that counts, right!?!

April Fools

I love April Fools Day!!! I got the idea for the spilled drink idea from Family Fun..click HERE: My kids made these for their teachers. They took a good 3 days to dry. It really scared one of the teachers!!

I also found the template for these on Family Fun. I had to modify it a bit to make the end longer so that I could crimp the edges. Click HERE for the template. I wrapped them around a package of Reeces Pieces. The kids gave these to their teachers who absolutely loved them!!!

I didn't take a picture but another good prank was to glue a magnet to the bottom of a cup and put it on the top of your vehicle and then watch all the people try to get your attention. My kids laughed all the way to school with this one.

Primary Teacher Gifts

I always have a hard time deciding what to get for Primary teachers. I want to do something to thank them and let them know that I appreciate what they do for my kids - BUT money is also tight around Christmas and what do you get for a Primary Teacher.
I have made some of these for birthdays and thought - why not use them for Christmas?? Have you tried Warm Delights? If not, you should!! They are really yummy. I used a legal size of paper and designed a wrap to fit around the Warm Delight and then had each of my kids draw or write a note to their teacher. Calista drew a pic of her Primary class

Chance drew a pic of him and his teacher outside the church.

Hailey drew a pic of her sitting in class raising her hand.

Snowman Sampler

My sister Shawna found this idea in the Paper Crafts magazine and YES we cut all these out by hand!! Now that I have a handy dandy Silhouette - I would let it do all the work of cutting out.

Letter Detective

Our kindergarten class does a really fun activity called "Letter Detective". They take turns taking this bag home and they have to bring back something that starts with the designated letter along with 3 clues for the class. They tell the class the 3 clues and then the class tries to figure out what could be inside. Hailey's teacher mentioned that her old bags were getting worn and she needed to search for some new ones. I LOVED the idea of the letter detective and I was sure that I could come up with something fun.
I purchased the bags at Waslmart and added a magnetic closure to the top of the bag. I found some really cute ABC fabric at JoAnn's and used wonder under to adhere it to the bag. Then I designed the letter detective portion on my computer. I printed it off on T-shirt transfer for dark colors and ironed it onto the yellow square. I sewed around the edge of the yellow fabric - just to make sure it wasn't going anywhere.
I think they turned out super cute!! The teacher loved them so much that she asked me to make 2 extra in case they got lost or worn out.

P.S. Chance had this same teacher 2 years later and I was glad to see that the bags were still in great shape...and she still LOVES them!!!!
